DIY Natural Makeup Remover | Life with Lauren

I've always had quite sensitive skin which doesn't agree with a lot of moisturisers, serums, cleansers etc. Since trying to switch to more natural skincare, I have been on the lookout for a makeup remover which is both natural and inexpensive. This is where the idea to create my own natural makeup remover came about.

I thought I'd compile a few different makeup remover recipes by what skin type they work best for. For example, Coconut Oil is better for dry skin rather than oily skin. I hope you find one that works best for you!

Dry/Normal Skin

1 and a half tablespoons of coconut oil (liquid)
1 and a half tablespoons of filtered water
1 tablespoon of witch hazel (optional)

or

Just use coconut oil and a washcloth with water to remove it!
(which is my personal favourite)

Oily Skin

 4 tablespoons of witch hazel
2 tablespoons of pure jojoba oil
2 tablespoons of olive oil

or

3 tablespoons of witch hazel
2 tablespoons of jojoba oil

Recipe Notes

* Witch Hazel helps to prevent bacterial growth however with all recipes, ensure the makeup remover is used within 3-4 days and stored in the fridge. This is because most makeup removers on the market contain preservatives and parabens which prevent this however they aren't always great for the skin which is why I prefer these recipes.

  2. Great post, my skin has become super sensitive lately and only very few products don’t irritate my skin. I’ve never actually thought about making my own but they look great! Xx

  5. You should try grapeseed oil instead of coconut as it emulsifies way easier so when you wash/rinse your face, the oil comes off way easier! Coconut takes forever sometimes and leaves residue. I love the idea of making your own skincare!! Xx

  6. These are great. I'm not a daily wearer of makeup but my skin isn't great the day after even though I always remove it. I'll try these thanks x
